Juice cleanse: Why you should do a juice cleanse and how to do it.

If you're like most people, you're probably curious about what a juice cleanse is. And more importantly, whether or not a juice cleanse is something you should try. Well, we're here to answer this for you! Read on to learn more about the world of juice cleansing and get the answers to all of the common questions about it. We'll talk about why juice cleanses are so beneficial (once we discovered the power of juice cleanses, it transformed our life!) and how to go about doing one on your own.

In a nutshell, a juice cleanse is a short-term detox diet that involves consuming only (preferably organic) juice for a period of time, typically 3-10 days. The way it works is to give your body time away from digesting solid foods to nurture the detox pathways that work so hard to keep you feeling well and healthy. Many people juice cleanse in order to lose weight, improve their skin and increase their energy levels.

Juice Cleanse benefits:

There are many benefits to juice cleansing, but some of the most common ones include:

- Weight loss: Juice cleanses can help you shed unwanted, stubborn fat by helping your body burn fat more efficiently.

- Improved digestion: By giving your digestive system a break from solid foods, you can help it function more effectively, heal and repair. This can lead to better digestion and a reduction in digestive problems such as bloating, gas, and constipation.

- Clearer skin: juice cleanses can help to detoxify your body and clear up your skin. This is due to the fact that organic juice is packed with micronutrients and antioxidants, which can help to improve your overall health. Normally dehydrated skin gets a big boost of hydration and skin loving nutrients when cleansing – leaving you with a more radiant complexion than ever before. Your skin says a big thank you by glowing!

- More energy: Juice cleanses can also give you a boost of energy because you're consuming loads of vitamins and minerals. This can help you feel more awake and alert throughout the day.

If you're interested in trying a juice cleanse, there are a few things you should keep in mind. First, it's important to choose a juice cleanse that's right for you. There are many different juice cleanses available, so it's important to do your research and find one that meets your needs.

Second, it's important to prepare your body for a juice cleanse properly to get the best results. This means eating light and healthy meals in the days leading up to your cleanse. This will help to ease your body into the juice cleanse and make the transition smoother. At Greene Street Juice you get our signature Juice Cleanse Protocol that guides you through this process for the best results.

Finally, it's important to listen to your body during a juice cleanse. If you start to feel weak or dizzy, it's important to stop and rest. Drinking plenty of water is also crucial during a juice cleanse.

You’ll find these tips and more to get the best out of your juice cleanse in the Greene Street Juice Cleanse Protocol, written by our naturopath to make sure you are guided by an expert every step of the way.

What are the types of juice cleanses?

There is a variety of juice cleanses available on the market, each with its own unique set of benefits and drawbacks, so it’s important to find the right one for you. Some common types of juice cleanses include:

Fruit juice detox: A detox cleanse that focuses on drinking fresh fruit juices. This type of cleanse is typically less restrictive than other options and can be a great way to jumpstart a healthier diet quickly. However, it can also be high in sugar so be sure to find a low sugar option. (At Greene Street Juice you’ll find the lowest sugar juice cleanses available on the market, with all cleanses being 97% sugar fee… all natural, never any added sugar).

Vegetable juice detox: Similar to the fruit juice detox, this type of cleanse focuses on drinking fresh vegetable juices. This option is typically lower in sugar than the fruit juice detox and can provide a host of nutrients and antioxidants. However, it can also be more restrictive and may not appeal to everyone.

Detox water cleanse (water fast): A water-based detox cleanse that involves drinking water only. This type of cleanse can be a great way to quickly flush toxins from the body and reset health. However, it does not provide as many nutrients as other options and will usually need to be monitored by a professional health practitioner.

Master Cleanse: A popular cleansing diet that involves consuming only lemon juice, water, and cayenne pepper for a period of 10 days up to several months. This type of cleanse is highly restrictive and may not be suitable for everyone. It is also important to note that the Master Cleanse is not supported by scientific evidence.

There are not only many different types of juice cleanses but also different juice-fast durations. They all have the same basic goal: to help rid your body of toxins and give you a fresh start. Some juice cleanses are short and intense, while others are longer and more gradual. Here are a few of the most common types of juice cleanses:

  1. The 3-day juice cleanse: This is the most popular type of juice cleanse, and it's designed to give your body a quick detox. You'll drink nothing but juice for three days. Expect to see natural fat burning take place with up to 3 - 5kg weight loss.
  2. The 5-day juice cleanse: If you want to detox for a little bit longer, try a five-day juice cleanse. This will give your body plenty of time to eliminate toxins and start fresh. Opt for 5 days to experience a gut health reset and deeper fat loss results. Expect to naturally burn away excess fat and experience significantly improved digestion.
  3. The 10-day juice cleanse: For a deep detox, try a ten-day juice cleanse. This will give your body plenty of time to restore balance and get rid of any lingering toxins. This amount of time will help to ditch naughty cravings too. The reboot to get you in the best shape of your life!
  4. The 21-day juice cleanse: If you're really serious about cleansing, try a 21-day juice cleanse. This will allow you to completely overhaul your diet and give your body a fresh start.

How many juices a day for a juice cleanse?

Most juice cleanses involve drinking six to eight juices per day. It's important to properly space the juices throughout the day and drink plenty of water in between.

It's also important to remember that not all juice is created equal. Some juice cleanse recipes are better than others. Here at Green Street Juice, our juices are 100% organic and the lowest in sugar you can find. Our cleanses include 8 organic drinks per day.  If you've picked one of our signature programs, your daily menu (showing what to drink, and when) will be in your inbox the day after placing your order. All cleanse menus are naturopath formulated with a mix of cold-pressed juices, smoothies, nut milks, broths and soups.

How much weight can you lose from a juice cleanse?

There is no definitive answer to this question as everyone’s body will react differently to a juice cleanse.

If you are looking to lose weight with a juice cleanse, be sure to choose juices that are low in calories and include plenty of detoxifying fruits and vegetables. It is also important to drink plenty of water and herbal teas throughout the day to keep hydrated. And be sure to follow up the juice cleanse with a healthy diet and regular exercise to maintain your weight loss goals.

Being extremely low in naturally occurring sugars and offering an energy deficit means that weight loss tends to occur as part of any of our Greene Street Juice cleanse programs. By creating the conditions for natural fat burning to occur (ketosis) over the first few days, best results are seen from day 3. For this reason, weight loss goals have the focus more on length than menu choice: 5-7 days are our favourites for transformative results, or alternatively committing to a Greene Street Juice monthly intermittent fasting pack to spread out the process over a longer period of time.

Can I drink coffee on a juice cleanse?

You're on your way to resetting your system and giving your body the nourishment it deserves. But there's one burning question on your mind: can you have coffee while you're doing a juice cleanse?

The answer is maybe. Coffee is technically a liquid, so in that sense, you could say that it counts as part of your juice cleanse. However, coffee is also loaded with caffeine and other compounds that could potentially offset the benefits of the cleanse. So if you're looking to get the most out of your juice cleanse, it's probably best to stick to freshly squeezed juices and water.

But hey, we're not here to judge. If you really need your coffee fix, go ahead and enjoy. Just know that it might not be doing everything that you hoped a juice cleanse would do.

Can I exercise whilst cleansing?

If you're considering a juice cleanse, you might be wondering if you can still exercise. While juice cleanses are often associated with days spent lounging on the couch, there's no reason why you can't stay active. In fact, exercise can actually help to improve the effects of a juice cleanse. Just be sure to drink plenty of fluids and listen to your body. A juice cleanse is a great way to reset your system and give your body a break from processed foods. And while exercise isn't required, it can help to boost your results. So go ahead and hit the gym, go for a run, or take a yoga class. Just be sure to drink plenty of water and listen to your body. And remember, a little exercise goes a long way during a juice cleanse!

Is a juice cleanse a diet?

A diet is defined as a plan of action for losing or gaining weight. A juice-cleanse diet is one in which a person drinks only juice for a period of time, often three to five days. The cleanser may make their own juice at home or purchase it from a juicing company.

So, is a juice-cleanse diet healthy? That depends on a few factors. If the cleanser is juicing fruits and vegetables that are high in nutrients, then the answer is yes. However, if the cleanser is only consuming sugary fruit juices, then the answer is probably no. In order to be healthy, a diet should be balanced and provide the body with the nutrients it needs. A juice-cleanse diet can be healthy if it meets these criteria, but not all juice cleanses are created equal. It's important to do your research before embarking on any new diet.
